Neuspeed Upper Strut Tie-Bar installation

Required Tools:

7/16" socket

1/8" drill bit

1/2 " drill bit

#30 Torx

9/16" wrench

10mm socket

13mm socket

1. Mark alignment, then remove windshield wipers (13mm socket), plastic tray (gently pry away from windshield) and rubber hood seal from air dam.

2. Remove right and left foam hood bumpers on edge of fender (#30 Torx).  Bend down metal bracket holding temperature sending unit on back side of air dam.

3. There is a left and right black anodized bracket which will be mounted to the top of the strut towers.  Set these on the proper strut tower and position so that they match up to the contour of the air dam.

4. From here on work slowly and carefully as you need to accurately drill the air dam thru holes.  These holes will be oversize for easy final adjustment of the mounting brackets and cross-bar.

5. From the inside edge of urethane fender, carefully measure over on a horizontal plane and mark the air dam at 3 1/4 inches and 4 inches.  Then measure down (and mark) 15/16 inch over 3 1/4 inch mark and 1 1/16 inch over 4 inch mark.  Do this on both sides.  Center punch, drill with 1/8 inch pilot drill, finish with 1/2 inch drill.  Remove any burrs from both sides and paint to prevent rust.

6. Install hex socket cap screws from back side of main mounting brackets, thru air dam and thread into cross-bar -- ONLY SNUG-UP at this time.  Position complete unit so that main mounting brackets sit  flat on strut towers.  Hold main mounting brackets down tightly and accurately mark three mounting holes -- there should be about a 1/16 inch gap between billet bracket and lip of the strut tower ring -- this is important.  Remove complete unit.

7. Center punch, drill a 1/8 inch pilot hole and finish with short 3/8 inch drill bit.  Tough up hole with paint to prevent rust.

8. Install a Nutsert in each hole, pushing down firmly as you tighten setting bolt.  Torque to 10-12 foot pounds.  DO NOT allow Neusert tool to turn during tightening or removal of setting bolt.

9.  Install the billet aluminum main mounting pads using the hex socket bolts and washers -- do not tighten.  Install the cross-bar using the hex socket bolts -- do not tighten.  If all bolts have been started and everything fits perfectly, start by tightening the hex socket bolts on each side of the main cross-bar, then the three hex socket bolts on each main mounting bracket.  NOTE: torque to 10-12 foot pounds.

10. Replace plastic tray (small amount of silicone gel will make pressing back into groove easier), windshield wipers (13mm socket), rubber hood seal from air dam and right and left foam hood bumpers on edge of fender (#30 Torx).

11. Carefully check all parts back in place.
